George Goldman - In Memoriam Feb. 13, 2008 Message Sad news to relate. George Goldman, a StandUp DeKalb supporter from the very beginning, passed away Monday at the age of 78. George was always quick to whip out his checkbook or volunteer for any task and wore his red shirt with pride (sometimes on top of his infamous yellow shirt from the Lakeside meeting !). George was an accomplished storyteller and a founding member of the Southern Order of Storytellers. George's list of community involvement was long and wide, ranging from Boy Scouts (awarded the Silver Beaver for distinguished service as a scoutmaster) to helping Lekotek, a play therapy and computer lending library for kids with disabilities. He had an impact on the lives of everyone he came into contact with and will be sorely missed. Here is a link to his obituary on ajc.com: http://www.legacy.com/Atlanta/Obituaries.asp?Page=LifeStory&PersonID=103298003 There will be a memorial service at The Temple, 1589 Peachtree St., NE. Atlanta, GA 30309-2401 on Thursday, February 14, 2008 at 2:00 pm in the main sanctuary. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations in George's memory be made to Jerusalem house, Hospice Atlanta or The Temple: www.jerusalemhouse.org www.hospiceatlanta.org www.the-temple.org |
