School Board Voted NO !!! How Best To Thank Them ?

Dr. Lewis recommended and the school board voted, to "end negotiations" with the Sembler Corp. over the sale of the properties on N. Druid Hills Road. Therefore, the meeting scheduled for January 28th has been cancelled. This is great news and we need to thank our elected and appointed officials, but the question is: How ?
I submit that filling up their email boxes and voicemails with thank yous would not be the best way. Instead, I strongly urge every resident of DeKalb County to get involved in making our school system the very best in the state. Go to school board meetings and see what other issues are out there. Attend the PTSA meetings at your local schools and see what their issues might be and how you can participate in finding solutions.Get informed and VOTE for a school board that you agree with.
They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Well, I say that imitation of our school board members' involvement in the single most important facet of our county would be a great way to say "Thank You".
Sembler still plans to go forward with their plans to redevelop the Park at Briarcliff apartments, so this fight is far from over. We will need to stay in touch with our county Board of Commissioners so that we the citizens can have a large say in reviewing any proposal that Sembler puts forward. So don't trash those yardsigns just yet !!!
Additionally, I promised Dr. Lewis that StandUp DeKalb would gladly work hand in hand with him and the school board to determine what would be best for the properties on N. Druid Hills Road. So stay tuned for emails about how we can shape the future of this area.
